The Oman national cricket team will host Papua New Guinea (PNG) in a two-match one-day international (ODI) series starting on Sunday, March 3.
As per the Oman vs PNG ODIs 2024 schedule, the first ODI will be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 2).
The second and final ODI is scheduled to be held at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1) on the following day on March 4.
Ranked 18th in the ICC men’s ODI team rankings, Oman will be led by captain Zeeshan Maqsood.
Since achieving their ODI status in April 2019, Oman has won 23 of the 46 matches that they have played in the 50-over format.
Oman last played an ODI match during the ICC World Cup 2023 qualifier in Harare in July 2023. They lost to West Indies by seven wickets in their previous ODI game.
On the other hand, the Papua New Guinea national cricket team will aim to change their dismal record against Oman in ODI cricket. They have never won a 50-over game versus Oman.
Having played their first-ever ODI match in 2014, PNG have a poor record in the format. PNG have registered just 14 victories in the 66 ODIs that they have played so far.
Meanwhile, veteran cricketer Assad Vala will captain PNG in the upcoming two-match ODI series.
