The Indian cricket team will face Northamptonshire in the final warm-up T20 match on their tour of the UK on Sunday, July 3.
The fixture, as it is for today’s warm-up game against Derbyshire, coincides with the ongoing rescheduled England vs India fifth Test at Edgbaston.
While an Indian team, led by Jasprit Bumrah, is in action at the Edgbaston Test, the second team, captained by Dinesh Karthik, is playing the warm up games to prepare for the upcoming T20I series against the host nation.
The squad for the warm up games is the same as the one which beat Ireland 2-0 in the recently-concluded T20I series.
The Men in Blue will only have a day’s preparation for the upcoming warm-up game as they have to travel approximately 70-plus miles from Derby to Northampton for the match after the Derbyshire warm up game.
India, following a 2-0 T20I series triumph over Ireland, have won four of their last five T20 games.
Northamptonshire, meanwhile, will play their final league game of the T20 Blast 2022 against Leicestershire on Friday, July 1. A defeat to Leicester will bring an end to Northampton’s 2022 campaign in the T20 Blast but a win could keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Josh Cobb-led side has lost three of their last five T20 matches and will eye a change in fortunes in its upcoming 20-over assignments.
The warm-up T20 match between Northamptonshire and India will be played at the County Ground in Northamptonshire. The venue has hosted only two ODIs in the past, both league games as part of the 1999 Cricket World Cup.
