The New Zealand women’s cricket team will take on the world’s top-ranked T20I team Australia in the first of the three-match series at the Seddon Park in Hamilton on Sunday, March 28.

Led by Sophie Devine, the White Ferns lost their last T20I series 0-3 against England at the start of this month. They will be boosted by the return of their experienced pacer Lea Tahuhu, who is making an international comeback from her hamstring injury.

However, New Zealand will miss the services of former captain and the leading run-scorer in Women's T20Is, Suzie Bates, who remains sidelined due to her shoulder injury sustained in the Women's Big Bash League last year.

Meanwhile, the Australia women’s cricket team will be confident against the hosts as they had won their last T20I series 2-1, which was against the same opposition in September last year.

The visitors will miss all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, who has been ruled out of the upcoming tour of New Zealand following a stress reaction in her femur. Off-spinner Molly Strano has been named her replacement.

In the head-to-head stats in the shortest format, the record favours Australia women who have won 23 matches against New Zealand women, who have won 20.
