The Nepal national cricket team will lock horns with Sri Lanka in their second Group D match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.
The Nepal vs Sri Lanka T20 World Cup 2024 match will start at 5:00 AM IST on Wednesday, June 12. The upcoming T20 World Cup game will be live streamed and televised on TV in India.
Ranked 17th in the ICC men’s T20I team rankings, Nepal will aim to bounce back after suffering a six-wicket defeat against the Netherlands in their T20 World Cup 2024 opener at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, June 4.
Put in to bat, Nepal were bowled out for 106 in 19.2 overs against the Netherlands.
Captain Rohit Paudel top-scored for Nepal with 35 while Karan KC added 17 to the total.
Later, Nepal fought hard with the ball before the Netherlands chased down the target in 18.4 overs.
On the other hand, the Sri Lanka national cricket team has lost both their matches in the ongoing T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the United States.
Led by captain Wanindu Hasaranga, Sri Lanka started their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a six-wicket defeat against South Africa at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
Ranked eighth in the ICC Men’s T20I team rankings, Sri Lanka later lost to their Asian rivals Bangladesh in a thrilling encounter by just two wickets in Dallas.
Apart from Nepal and Sri Lanka, Group D features South Africa, Bangladesh and the Netherlands, one of the two evident groups of death in T20 World Cup 2024.
With two wins in two, South Africa are currently placed at the top of the Group D standings with four points, followed by Bangladesh in second place on two points.
The Netherlands are placed third in the standings with two points and have an inferior net run-rate than Bangladesh.
Nepal are currently fourth while Sri Lanka are languishing at the bottom of the standings.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 8 stage.
