The Nepal national cricket team will square off against Malaysia in the third match of ACC Men’s T20I Premier Cup 2024 at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1) on Friday, April 12. The Nepal vs Malaysia match will start at 4:00 PM IST.
Organised by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), the second edition of ACC Men’s T20I Premier Cup will see as many as 10 teams compete in a total of 24 matches. The winner of ACC Men’s T20I Premier Cup 2024 will qualify for Asia Cup 2025.
In 2023, Nepal won the inaugural edition of the ACC Men’s T20I Premier Cup after beating United Arab Emirates by seven wickets in the final.
Led by Rohit Paudel, Nepal will aim to bounce back after going down to Papua New Guinea by 86 runs in the final of the Hong Kong Men’s T20I Series in March.
On the other hand, the Malaysia national cricket team recently featured in a two-match T20 series against Papua New Guinea.
While PNG won the opening game by 77 runs, Malaysia levelled the series with a 63-run victory in the second T20.
Nepal are currently ranked 17th in the ICC men’s T20I team rankings while Malaysia are placed 25th.
Nepal vs Malaysia T20 head-to-head
Nepal hold a dominant head-to-head record against Malaysia in T20 international cricket, winning eight of the nine matches that they have played. Malaysia have registered just a solitary victory so far.
The last time these two sides met, Nepal beat Malaysia by six wickets in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier final in Kirtipur in October 2023.
