Nepal T20 League 2022-23 to start on December 23 - watch live in India

The inaugural edition of the Nepal T20 League 2022-23 is all set to get underway on December 23. The 34-match tournament will continue till January 10, 2023.

The Nepal T20 League, which was initially planned to take place in September earlier this year, was postponed due to security reasons amid the elections that took place in the country during that period.

The six participating teams are Kathmandu Knights, Lumbini All Stars, Biratnagar Super Kings, Pokhara Avengers, Far Western United and Janakpur Royals. Kathmandu Knights will face Pokhara Avengers in the opening match.

Each team will play the other sides twice in a double round-robin format. Two matches are scheduled to be played everyday during the league stage, at 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM IST, respectively. 

The league phase will be followed by a page playoff system for the knockouts.

The top-two teams will clash in Qualifier 1 where the winner will seal a direct spot in the final. 

The losing side will have another chance to contest the final in Qualifier 2, where they will face the winner of the eliminator match between the third and fourth-placed sides.

The team that wins Qualifier 2 will square off against the winner of Qualifier 1 in the final to be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.

Earlier, a total of 67 domestic players and 32 overseas cricketers were signed from the two-day draft held on September 10th and 11th in Kathmandu.

A host of renowned stars from across the globe are set to ply their trade in the Nepal T20 League 2022-23. 

While Kathmandu Capitals signed Thisara Perera, Pokhara acquired the services of Pakistani all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez along with Niroshan Dickwella and Sekkuge Prasanna.

Biratnagar Super Kings too got in on the act by signing Angelo Mathews. The quartet of Ben Cutting, Rahkeem Cornwall, Unmukt Chand and Pat Brown will play for the Lumbini All-stars as Adam Lyth and Carlos Braithwaite will be seen with Janakpur Royals and Far Western United, respectively.

Moreover, former Australia seamer Brett Lee was roped in as the mentor for the first edition of the tournament in an official event that was staged just before the draft.

There will be no live telecast of the Nepal T20 League 2022-23 in India.
