Thane Tigers will take on Mira Bhayander Lions in the final of Navi Mumbai Premier League T20 2023 at Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane on Wednesday. The match will be available for live streaming in India.
Both teams made it to the final on the back of confident wins in their semi-finals on Tuesday. Mira Bhayander Lions beat Kalyan Tuskers by 83 runs after putting 169/6 on board, courtesy of opener Srujan Athawle’s 66 off 39 balls.
Thane Tigers, meanwhile, chased down Vashi Warriors’ target of 182 runs with eight wickets and a ball to spare. Openers Akhil Herwadkar (69 from 46 balls) and Parikshit Valsangkar (87 runs from 55 balls) put on 160 runs for the first wicket to take the sting out of the Vashi Warriors’ bowling attack.
Both teams also have good depth in their bowling attack. Hemant Buchade of Thane Tigers has picked up 16 wickets from eight matches and is the top wicket-taker in the tournament. Mira Bhayander Lions’ Abhishek Srivastava has taken 14 wickets from seven matches and is the second-highest wicket-taker in Navi Mumbai Premier League T20 2023.
The tournament began on February 28 with eight teams - Thane Tigers, Mira Bhayander Lions, Kalyan Tuskers, Vashi Warriors, Belapur Blasters, Ambernath Avengers, Sanpada Scorpions, Koparkairne Titans - in the fray.
Thane Tigers had topped the points table with six wins and one loss while Mira Bhayander Lions came second with five wins, a loss and a no result. The final will be played on Wednesday at 1.00 PM IST.
