The fifth match of ECS T10 Malta 2021 will see Mater Dei (MTD) kicking off their campaign against Overseas CC (OVR) at the Marsa Sports Complex on Tuesday, June 15.

Despite having a promising young squad at their disposal, Mater Dei have often been victims of inconsistency over the last few seasons, which explains the club’s trophy drought since coming into existence in 2018.
Overseas CC, on the other hand, come to this season after a decent finish in ECS T10 Malta 2020, where they finished fifth in the final phase of the tournament by winning four games in a row.
Led by captain Jurg Hirschi, Overseas CC will head into the match as favourites, looking to build momentum from where they had left off last season.

Top tip: Best batsmen
Mater Dei’s Michael Nazir will be an obvious first pick for any fantasy team owner. A former national team star, Nazir is known for his ability to execute unconventional shots all across the park. Nazir can be a real match-winner for MTD.
The best batsman from both teams will be Overseas star Andy Naudi. Playing 10 matches last season, the batsman tallied 224 runs with an average of 37.33 and one half-century to his name as well. He will be a safe pick.
Top tip: Best bowlers
MTD bowler Sharoon Lazar could be a handy option. The pacer has been in and around the domestic circuit since 2012 and has all the experience to hit the deck consistently. While he played only seven matches in 2020 and 2019, it was in 2018 where he stood out, taking 12 wickets in five matches.
Spinner Jurg Hirschi will be the best option with the ball from the OVR camp. The OVR skipper was the joint leading wicket-taker last season with 10 scalps to his name in 10 matches. He had one three-wicket haul to his name as well.
Top tip: All-rounder and wicket-keeper
Michael Nazir will be an exciting all-rounder option. The MTD star chips in with spin bowling from time to time and has found success at the international level while playing for the Malta national team. He could be a good point-getter.
Overseas CC wicketkeeper Sean Byrne will be a good pick for the wicket-keeping position. The 25-year-old middle-order batsman was a crucial part of OVR last season and fantasy team owners could expect a similar performance this time as well.
