Team Chennai captain MS Dhoni's parents have tested positive for COVID-19 and have been admitted to the Pulse Superspeciality Hospital in Ranchi. Providing an update over their condition, the hospital, in a statement, said, “Parents of cricketer MS Dhoni have been admitted here at the hospital after testing positive for COVID-19. Their oxygen level is stable.”

Like several other states in India, Jharkhand has seen a spike in coronavirus cases in recent times and the government has announced a lockdown in the state from April 22 to April 29. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni is leading his Chennai team in Mumbai in the ongoing Indian T20 League. The three-time league winners had a disappointing start to their new campaign, losing their season opener to Delhi by seven wickets, but the team picked the momentum and went on to win their next two games on the trot.

The team is currently playing its matches at the Wankhede Stadium and will move to Delhi for the next leg of the competition after the next two matches. Chennai take on Kolkata today and will then square off against Bangalore on Sunday, April 25.
