The Super Smash 2023-24, New Zealand’s domestic T20 cricket competition, began on December 19 and will run till January 28.

Featuring six teams, a total of 32 T20 matches will be played over six weeks in the 19th edition of the Super Smash.

Auckland Aces, Canterbury, Central Districts, Northern Districts, Otago Volts and Wellington Firebirds are the six teams that are competing for the Super Smash 2023-24 title.

Some of New Zealand’s leading T20 bowlers, including the likes of Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Trent Boult, Michael Bracewell, Adam Milne, Lockie Ferguson and Matt Henry, are participating in the ongoing edition of the Super Smash.

New Zealand spinner Jayden Lennox and pacer Michael Rae finished with the most wickets in the Super Smash last season. 

Representing Central Districts, Jayden Lennox picked up 16 wickets in nine matches at an average of 15.93 and an economy of 7.61. Otago Volts’ Michael Rae was the joint-highest wicket-taker with 16 scalps in 10 games at an average of 16.18 and an economy of 8.73.

Meanwhile, Canterbury’s Angus McKenzie took the first wicket in Super Smash 2023-24. 

Right-arm medium-pacer Angus McKenzie dismissed Auckland Aces’ opening batter Finn Allen in the opening game of the T20 tournament.

The likes of James Neesham, Danru Ferns, Peter Younghusband, Ian McPeake, Ajaz Patel, Scott Kuggeleijn and Mitchell Santner have made a promising start to the season. Here’s a look at the players with the most wickets in Super Smash 2023-24.
