The Super Smash 2023-24, New Zealand’s domestic T20 cricket competition, started on December 19 and will run till January 28.
As many as six teams are competing in a total of 32 matches across six weeks in the 19th edition of the Super Smash.
Some of New Zealand’s top T20 batters including the likes of Kane Williamson, Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips, Devon Conway, Tim Seifert, Finn Allen, Mark Chapman and Daryl Mitchell will feature this season.
New Zealand batter Robert O’Donnell slammed the first fifty of Super Smash 2023-24 which included three fours and four maximums. Representing Auckland Aces, Robert O’Donnell scored an unbeaten 54 off just 38 balls against Canterbury in the opening match of the tournament in Auckland. His blazing knock powered Auckland to 185/5 in their 20 overs and helped the team register a 27-run victory.
Meanwhile, the first century of Super Smash 2023-24 by Tim Robinson was laced with 10 fours and as many maximums. While opening the batting for Wellington Firebirds, Tim Robinson scored 139 off just 64 balls against Otago Volts. Robinson’s knock helped the Firebirds secure a 74-run win at Basin Reserve in Wellington.
The likes of Jake Gibson, Jeet Raval, Nick Kelly and Martin Guptill have also produced some scintillating batting performances for their respective franchises in the ongoing Super Smash.
Last season, New Zealand’s Dean Foxcroft finished with the most runs in the Super Smash. Playing for Otago, the right-handed batter scored 424 runs in 11 matches at an average of 47.11 and a strike rate of 131.26.
