Flamboyant opening batter David Warner is the first player to score 50 half-centuries in Indian T20 League history. The 34-year-old southpaw reached the milestone against MS Dhoni’s Chennai in the 2021 season.

Warner brought up his fifty as he smashed India’s left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja for a huge six. He was finally dismissed by South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi for 57.

David Warner holds the record for scoring the most fifties in the Indian T20 League. He is followed by Delhi's Shikhar Dhawan. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and AB de Villiers - all have 40 or more half-centuries each.

Other milestones that Warner achieved during the match was reaching 200 sixes in the Indian T20 League and also becoming the fourth player, after Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard, and Shoaib Malik to reach 10,000 runs in T20 cricket.

David Warner has been a part of the Indian T20 league since its second season in 2009 when he joined Delhi. He spent five seasons with them before moving to Hyderabad in 2014. Warner tallied 500-plus runs in six of his seven campaigns with Hyderabad and will now play for Delhi in Indian T20 League 2022.

The swashbuckling opener also boasts of being the only batsman to have won the most number of Orange Caps (three) in the tournament.
