The African Games Ghana 2024 Men is all set to get underway on March 17 with cricket taking place in the competition for the first time in its history.
Organised by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa, as many as eight teams will participate in the tournament.
The eight teams have been divided into two groups of four sides each with Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, and Uganda in Group A, while Namibia, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zimbabwe are clubbed in Group B.
Each team will play the other sides in their group once in a single round-robin format with the top two countries in the standings after all the group stage matches qualifying for the semi-finals.
The winner of the two semi-finals will clash in the African Games Ghana 2024 Men’s final on Saturday, March 23 and the third-place playoff will also take place on the same day.
The women’s event which ended on March 13 saw Zimbabwe beat South Africa in the final following a Super Over, while Nigeria beat Uganda to claim the bronze medal.
The captains in the African Games Ghana 2024 Men’s competition are Samson Awiah (Ghana), Rakeep Patel (Kenya), JJ Smit (Namibia), Sylvester Okpe (Nigeria), George Van Heerden (South Africa), Salum Jumbe (Tanzania), Brian Masaba (Uganda), and Clive Madande (Zimbabwe).
Achimota Oval A, Accra and Achimota Oval B, Accra are the two venues which will be hosting the games in this tournament.
