The Lanka Premier League 2023 started on Sunday, July 30, with defending champions Jaffna Kings locking horns with Colombo Strikers in the opening fixture at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

Organised by Sri Lanka Cricket, the fourth edition of the Lanka Premier League will see five teams play a total of 24 T20 matches over three weeks.

B-Love Kandy, Colombo Strikers, Dambulla Aura, Galle Titans and Jaffna Kings are the five teams that are competing for the Lanka Premier League 2023 title.

As per the Lanka Premier League 2023 schedule, each team will play the other twice in a double round-robin format. The top four teams in the standings after all the league matches will qualify for the LPL 2023 playoffs. 

The top two teams in the standings will clash in Qualifier 1 for a place in the Lanka Premier League 2023 final. Meanwhile, the third-placed and fourth-placed teams will square off against each other in the LPL 2023 Eliminator for a spot in Qualifier 2. Both the Qualifier 1 and the Eliminator will be held on August 17.

The winner of the Eliminator will later face the loser of Qualifier 1 in Qualifier 2 on August 19 for a chance to advance to the LPL 2023 final.

The Lanka Premier League 2023 final will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium on August 20.

Apart from the R Premadasa Stadium, the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium will also host a few LPL 2023 matches.

Reigning champions Jaffna Kings are the most successful team in the Lanka Premier League, having won all the three previous editions in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
