Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah got his name up on the honours board at Trent Bridge in Nottingham after picking five wickets on Day 4 in India’s first Test against England. It’s the second time in his career that the bowler has his name inscribed in the Trent Bridge Honours Board.
After what was a rather substandard outing in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand, Bumrah made a fantastic comeback by picking nine wickets in the first Test. His efforts, however, went in vain as India had to settle for a draw. Nevertheless, a return of 9/110 is now his second-best bowling figures in Test cricket.

Sunday’s effort was Bumrah’s second 5-fer in England and he has become the first Indian bowler to do so. His figure of 5/64 is the second-best return by an Indian bowler at Nottingham in Test cricket. Hardik Pandya’s 5/28 still remains a figure to beat.

In his short career, Bumrah is up amongst the likes of Terry Alderman and Sir Richard Hadlee in terms of most wickets by a visiting bowler at Nottingham in Tests. With 16 wickets, Bumrah is the joint fourth-highest wicket-taker (visiting) at the venue.

Bumrah has taken six five-wicket hauls in his Test career and all of them have come in away conditions. This puts him fifth in the list of most five-wicket hauls by an Indian pacer in away conditions.

The 27-year-old was at his brilliant best during the match. Apart from getting the better of England captain Joe Root, he also dismissed Dom Sibley, Zak Crawley, Sam Curran, and Stuart Broad in the second innings as India restricted England to 303.
Talking about his performance, Bumrah explained what kind of ‘mindset adjustment’ he made before the game.
“Not a lot of adjustments to be very honest. Just the mindset adjustments and probably not looking at the end result a little too much. I am trying to be in the moment and back my skills. I am just trying to improve my game all the time and add new things but carrying the things I still have," he said in a press conference after the day’s play.
