After clinching the five-match T20I series 3-2, the Ireland cricket team will lock horns with Zimbabwe in a three-match ODI series starting on Wednesday, September 8.
The three ODIs are important for both teams as they are part of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
Ireland clearly dominated the Craig Ervine-led Zimbabwe side in the shortest format of the game ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled to be held in UAE.
Opening batsman Paul Stirling and pacer Mark Adair were the standout performers for Ireland in the recently concluded T20I series. While Sterling was the highest run-getter in the series, amassing 234 runs in five matches at an average of 58.50, fast bowler Adair was the leading wicket-taker, picking 10 wickets in just three matches.
Andrew Balbirnie-led Ireland will hope that the duo can continue their impressive form in the 50-over format as well.
On the other hand, the Zimbabwe cricket team managed to end the five-match T20I series on a positive note with a win.
The visitors looked out of sorts at times during the T20I series and they will look to put on an improved show in the ODI series. The Zimbabwe batting line-up failed to get going in the shortest format as new skipper Craig Ervine was the lone performer for Zimbabwe, scoring 160 runs in five matches at an average of 40.
All the matches of the ODI series are scheduled to be held at the Civil Service Cricket Club Ground in Belfast.
