Warner top-scored in IPL 2019 and has already captained Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2015 and 2017.
David Warner, on Thursday, was reappointed as Sunrisers Hyderabad captain for the 2020 editions of the Indian Premier League, replacing Kane Williamson who led the side for the last two editions of the tournament.
Warner, who led Hyderabad to a title victory in 2016, stepped down from his role in 2018 following his involvement in the ‘Sandpaper Gate’ scandal. He did play last year's edition of the T20 extravaganza where he ended up being the highest scorer with 692 runs in just 12 innings.
Warner, having captained Sunrisers Hyderabad between 2015 and 2017, has won 26 out of 45 games as a captain. Kane Williamson, on the other hand, has a record of 14 wins out of 26 games as Hyderabad captain.

"I'm thrilled to be given the captaincy for this coming IPL 2020," Warner said in a message. "I'm extremely grateful to be given the opportunity to lead the team once again.
"I'd like to thank Kane and Bhuvi for the way you guys led throughout the last couple of years, you guys did an outstanding job. And I'll be leaning on you guys for support and your insight to the game as well. And to the management thank you once again for giving me this opportunity. And I'll try my very, very best to lifting that IPL Trophy this year," he added.

In his four seasons in the Indian Premier League, Warner has notched a whopping 4707 runs in 126 games, notching the Orange Cap on as many as three occasions (2015, 2017 and 2019). As far as his overall record goes, he sits fourth in the list of highest run-scorers in the tournament, behind Virat Kohli, Suresh Raina and Rohit Sharma.
Hyderabad begin their IPL campaign on April 1 against the defending champions Mumbai Indians. However, it remains to be seen if both Warner and Williamson will be made available as Australia and New Zealand are scheduled to lock horns in a three-match ODI series which ends on March 29.
