Delhi registered back-to-back wins in the 2020 Indian T20 League after a 44-run win over Chennai at Dubai on Friday, September 25.

Prithvi Shaw was in inspired form and top-scored in the match, while South African pacer Kagiso Rabada delivered with the ball to ensure that Chennai suffered consecutive defeats. Here, we have a look at some talking points from Match 7 of Indian T20 League 2020.

It's Shaw-time!

After a lull with the bat at the start of Indian T20 League 2020, Shaw came good against Chennai with a 43-ball 64. The right-hander scored his fifth Indian T20 League fifty and his first against the three-time champions. He also brought up 1000 Indian T20 League runs, smashing nine fours and a six along the way.

It was his second fifty in his last 15 Indian T20 League innings and it could be the start of something special for Delhi. His knock at the top of the order set the tone for Delhi and if it’s an indicator of things to come, then the Capitals could be in for their best Indian T20 League campaign yet. Furthermore, with successive wins to start the season, this could finally be Delhi’s year.

Overdependence on du Plessis

Faf du Plessis was the highest scorer for Chennai with a 35-ball 43 and it was a familiar tale. The highest-scorer against Rajasthan Royals as well with a 37-ball 72, du Plessis has been holding his end of the bargain but needs the rest of the Chennai batting order to also contribute sooner rather than later.

MS Dhoni needs to move on up

The Chennai skipper hasn’t had the best of Indian T20 League seasons so far and he needs to deliver if his team are to enjoy a successful season. He scored an unbeaten 29 after the game was beyond his reach in Chennai’s previous match against Rajasthan and managed just 15 against Delhi.

With a lot of question marks surrounding his contribution to the team, Dhoni moving up the batting order has been pitched as a solution for Chennai’s batting woes. Having said that, him moving up the order and taking the bull by the horns has been suggested as a solution to Chennai’s current predicament for a while now but whether that happens remains to be seen.

Delhi’s bowlers have been on the money

With two wins from two games, Delhi have made one of their best starts to an Indian T20 League season. A major reason behind it has been their bowlers. Rabada, who has taken five wickets in Delhi’s opening two games of the season, has been spearheading their bowling effort. Add to that the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel and Amit Mishra, who offer an indicator of the bowling depth that Delhi possess, which makes bad reading for their opponents in the remaining matches.
