The India women's cricket team will take on Bangladesh in a five-match T20 international series starting on Sunday, April 28.
Both India and Bangladesh will aim to make use of the upcoming T20I series in order to prepare themselves for the T20 Women’s World Cup 2024 to be held in September-October in Bangladesh.
As per the India Women vs Bangladesh Women T20 2024 schedule, all five matches will be played at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on April 28, 30, May 2, 6 and 9.
India are currently placed third in the ICC women’s T20I team rankings, while Bangladesh are ninth in the rankings.
Ahead of the T20I series, India have announced their 16-member squad to be led by Harmanpreet Kaur while Smriti Mandhana will be her deputy
All-rounder Asha Sobhana and off-spinner Sajana Sajeevan have received their maiden India call-ups after their impressive showing in the recent Indian women’s T20 League.
Sobhana was the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the T20 tournament, having picked up 12 wickets in 10 matches for Bengaluru.
Mumbai’s Sajeevan scored 87 runs in nine matches at an impressive strike rate of 158.18. She also bagged two wickets.
However, the Women in Blue will miss the services of star batter Jemimah Rodrigues due to an injury.
Shafali Verma, Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, Shreyanka Patil, Renuka Singh Thakur and Titas Sadhu are the other notable inclusions in the squad.
On the other hand, the Bangladesh women's national cricket team will look to bounce back after succumbing to a 0-3 T20I series defeat against Australia in Dhaka.
Bangladesh have included uncapped 15-year-old pacer Habiba Islam Pinky in their 15-member squad.
Nigar Sultana Joty will once again lead the hosts while Nahida Akter has been named as vice-captain.
India Women vs Bangladesh Women T20 head-to-head
India Women have a dominant head-to-head record against Bangladesh Women in T20 international cricket, winning 14 of the 17 matches that they have played so far. Bangladesh Women have registered just three victories.
The last time these two sides met, India Women beat Bangladesh Women by eight wickets in the semi-finals of the Asian Games 2023 T20 cricket competition in September.
