The India Under-19 Cricket Team will take on the England Under-19 side in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2022 final at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Saturday, February 5. The match will start at 6:30 PM IST.
Under the leadership of Yash Dhull, the Indian youngsters have had an impressive campaign, winning all their five matches of the tournament to reach their fourth consecutive final.
While India defeated South Africa, Ireland and Uganda in the group stage, they overcame Bangladesh in the quarter-final and followed it with a thumping win over the mighty Australians.
Interestingly, the Indian youngsters had earlier suffered a massive blow in the initial stage of the high-profile tournament after half of their players tested COVID-19 positive. However, all the players including Yash Dhull have recovered and will play an important role in the final on Saturday.
On the other hand, the England Under-19 team ended their 24-year drought of reaching the final of the Under-19 World Cup. England last appeared in 1998 final where they defeated New Zealand to clinch their maiden ICC Under-19 World Cup title held in South Africa.
In the group stage, England beat Bangladesh, Canada and UAE before defeating South Africa in the quarter-final and Afghanistan in the semi-final.
India will eye a record fifth Under-19 World Cup title while England will look to clinch their second.
