After a brilliant bowling performance in the first ODI which saw the Indian cricket team beat England by 66 runs, Virat Kohli and Co. will look to seal the three-match series at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium on Friday.

India’s win came at a cost though, as their middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer was sidelined with a shoulder injury while saving a boundary. Iyer’s subluxated left shoulder will require surgery and the batsman will miss not only the rest of the ODI series but few matches of the 2021 Indian T20 League as well.

Team India has options in wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant and an in-form Suryakumar Yadav to replace Iyer.

Suryakumar Yadav, in particular, has been in good form. A prolific scorer in domestic cricket, Suryakumar kickstarted his international career with a six off the first ball he faced in the fourth T20I and went on to score a match-winning fifty on debut last week.

And given how ODI debutants Krunal Pandya and Prasidh Krishna performed in the last ODI, the Men in Blue will have little concern about finding a perfect replacement. Watch India vs England 2nd ODI live!

The England cricket team also has injury woes of their own with both Sam Billings and captain Eoin Morgan doubtful for the second ODI. Both batted with injuries, suffered while fielding, during the first ODI on Tuesday.

While Billings sprained his collar bone while saving a boundary, Morgan was forced out of the field after suffering a split webbing between his right thumb and index finger that required four stitches.
