India’s limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka is set to begin on July 18 and will conclude on July 29 as per the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah

"Yes, there is a new schedule for the matches in Sri Lanka," BCCI secretary Jay Shah, told ANI

As per the original schedule, India’s white-ball tour to Sri Lanka was scheduled to get underway on July 13 and finish on July 25. However, following a surge of COVID-19 cases to members in the Lankan camp, the dates for the series had to be altered.

The hosts’ batting coach Grant Flower and a team analyst GT Niroshan tested positive for COVID-19 on their arrival from the recently-concluded England tour. Hence, the Sri Lanka board wanted its players to serve an extended period of quarantine.

As per the latest reports, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) officials have got in touch with the BCCI secretary Jay Shah, earlier in the day seeking approval for the revised schedule.

The final dates for all the sixes games (three ODIs and T20Is) will be announced soon. Meanwhile, the SLC has also been trying to contact the broadcasters on the same.

Shikhar Dhawan is captaining the new-look Indian side with Bhuvneshwar Kumar acting as his deputy. The young team will be coached by Rahul Dravid with regular Head Coach Ravi Shastri and his support staff already in England for last month’s WTC final against and the subsequent five-match Test series against England from August.
