SportsAdda ambassador Brett Lee showered praise on new Delhi captain Rishabh Pant, calling him the ‘future of Indian cricket’ in episode 1 of SportsAdda presents T20 Crazy, powered by Sportsbet.io.

Sitting down with Manish Batavia, the former Australian superstar provided his thoughts on Rishabh Pant, who was announced as Delhi captain for Indian T20 League 2021 in place of the injured Shreyas Iyer.

When asked if Pant was the right choice as the new Delhi captain, given senior players like Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan and Steve Smith were also in contention, Binga agreed it was a good choice.

“I think he (Rishabh Pant) is the future of Indian cricket. I like him because he is cheeky without being arrogant, funny without being not being serious enough. I think he’s got the right blend of what you need in a cricketer.”

“I like that he has been an additional responsibility, not just as a captain but also as a batsman because he has so much to bring to the team. He is a great find for India and Delhi,” Lee said.

Furthermore, he also talked about his excitement of the Pant-Ponting partnership, terming it as two powerhouses coming together.

“The combination between the captain Rishabh Pant and coach Ricky Ponting is gonna be a great one, and Ponting’s leadership qualities will definitely rub on Pant,” Lee added.

Maxwell is due for a big season

The SportsAdda ambassador also spoke about how Glenn Maxwell, Bangalore’s second-biggest buy at the Indian T20 League auction, is due for a big season in Indian T20 League 2021.

“Maxwell is due for a big season. Whenever he is green and gold (Australian team colours), he’s on fire. The shots he’s got in his bag is world class and not many players can pull off the same.”

Brett Lee has a particular piece of advice for the 32-year-old, who has registered 1505 runs in 82 matches.

“When he gets freedom, Maxwell can score runs freely. But I really hope he takes some time at the crease. Face two, three or four balls, see what's going on and then go downtown,” Lee said.
