The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 began on June 16, 2023 and will conclude in June, 2025.

Organised by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the WTC 2023-25 is the third edition of the ICC World Test Championship.

The Ashes 2023 series contested between England and Australia kick-started the third cycle of the ICC World Test Championship in June. The five-match series ended 2-2 in England.

The Australian cricket team are the defending champions of the WTC after beating India by 209 runs in the 2023 final at The Oval. New Zealand were the inaugural WTC champions having defeated India in the 2021 final.

How does the WTC points table work?

A total of 69 matches across 27 series will be played between the nine full members of the ICC during WTC 2023-25. The nine participating teams are Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, Sri Lanka and West Indies.

Any series against a team outside of the ICC members is not a part of the World Test Championship. This includes Afghanistan, Ireland and Zimbabwe.

Each series in the WTC 2023-25 cycle will include two to five Tests, with the nine competing teams each playing six series—three at home and three away.

In the WTC 2023-2025, a team will bag 12 points for every win and will get four points for a draw and six points for a tie. Just like the previous edition, the standings in WTC 2023-25 will be determined by the points percentage system (PCT). PCT refers to points won by a team/points contested x 100.
