The ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 Qualifier A will start at the Oman Academy grounds in Al Amerat from Friday, February 18.
The week-long tournament will feature eight teams - hosts Oman, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Ireland, Nepal, Philippines, Canada, Germany and Bahrain as they battle it out for the two spots available at Qualifier A.
The tournament is part of the final stages of the qualification process for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 scheduled to be held in Australia later this year.
Eight teams have been divided into two groups - A and B. Group A includes Oman, Nepal, Canada and Philippines while Group B comprises Germany, Bahrain, UAE and Ireland.
As per the format, the top two teams after the single round-robin phase will qualify for the semi-finals. The top-placed side after the group stage will lock horns with the second-place finisher in the opposite group, with the semi-final winners sealing their place for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022. The final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2022 Qualifier A will be held on February 24.
A total of 20 matches will be played at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground (Ministry Turf 1 & 2).
