Colombo Stars (CS) will cross swords with Galle Gladiators (GG) in the 13th match of Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2021 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday, December 12.

The Stars have made a disappointing start to their LPL 2021 campaign, registering just one win in three matches at the time of writing. Led by Dhananjaya de Silva, CS are currently placed fourth in the five-team tournament with just two points from three encounters.
Galle Gladiators, on the other hand, have secured two wins, suffered one defeat while one of their matches was abandoned due to rain. With five points from four matches, the Bhanuka Rajapaksa-led GG are currently placed second in the standings.
Going by recent form and team combination, GG will start as favourites against CS on Sunday.

Galle Gladiators captain Bhanuka Rajapaksa has been in impressive form in the ongoing edition of LPL. The 30-year-old has scored 80 runs in three innings at a strike rate of 166.66. Rajapaksa had smashed a 31-ball 56 against Jaffna Kings and he will look to continue his scintillating form against the vaunted Colombo bowling attack.

Dushmantha Chameera has been the wrecker-in-chief for Colombo Stars in LPL 2021 so far. The right-arm fast bowler has picked six wickets in three matches at an average of 18.83. Chameera is tipped to add more wickets to his tally against the Gladiators and he will be the player to watch out for in the bowling department.
Top tip: Best all-rounder and wicket-keeper
As far as all-rounders are concerned, one must pick Samit Patel of the Galle Gladiators. The England all-rounder has claimed seven wickets in four matches at an economy of just 4.50. Patel has also made a valuable contribution of 60 runs coming lower down the batting order. He will once again play an important role in both the departments against struggling Colombo Stars.
For the wicket-keeper spot, Galle Gladiators’ Ben Dunk will be the preferred choice over Kusal Perera of Colombo Stars. Available at just 8.5 credits, Dunk has already accumulated 35.5 fantasy points per match and could be a valuable addition against the Stars.
