On the heels of the revelation of the one-day Super League to determine qualification for the 50-over World Cup in 2023 comes the announcement that front-foot-no-balls are to be monitored exclusively by the third umpire during the course of the series.
It won’t be a first for the technology, which was earlier used during the India vs West Indies One-Day International (ODI) series for monitoring bowlers who overstepped.
Thanks to the largely positive opinion generated during that trial, the International Cricket Council (ICC) then proceeded to allow the third umpire to solely determine front-foot-no-balls during the Women’s T20 World Cup in Australia held earlier this year.
The first face-off of the Super League will begin with a three-match ODI series between world champions England and Ireland, set to get underway in Southampton on Thursday, July 30.
The series will see participation by ICC's 12 full members and the Netherlands will take part as well, with each side playing four home and four away three-match series.
