The England women's national cricket team will lock horns with Sri Lanka Women in a three-match T20 international series starting on Thursday, August 31.
Ranked second in the ICC women's T20I team rankings, England Women will head into the series after beating arch-rivals Australia 2-1 in both their recently-concluded T20I and ODI series.
As per the Sri Lanka Women tour of England 2023, the first T20I of the three-match series will be played at the County Ground Cricket Ground in Hove.
The two teams will later face each other in the second T20I at the County Ground Cricket Ground in Chelmsford on September 2, while the third and final T20I is scheduled to be held at the County Ground Cricket Ground in Derby.
Ahead of the T20I series, England Women have announced their squad to be led by captain Heather Knight.
Wicketkeeper-batter Bess Heath, fast bowler Mahika Gaur and seamer Lauren Filer have received their maiden T20I call-up.
The England-born left-arm seamer Mahika Gaur earlier represented the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and played 19 T20I. She also featured in the inaugural Women's U-19 World Cup held in South Africa earlier this year.
All-rounder Freya Kemp has made a comeback to the England T20I squad after recovering from a stress fracture.
On the other hand, Chamari Athapaththu will captain the Sri Lanka women's national cricket team, who are ranked eighth in the ICC women’s rankings for T20Is, in the upcoming 20-over series.
The visitors have named Oshadi Ranasinghe as deputy to Chamari Athapaththu.
The likes of all-rounder Harshitha Samarawickrama, Vishmi Gunaratne and wicketkeeper-batter Anushka Sanjeewani have been included in the Sri Lanka squad for the England tour.
