The England cricket team will take on Sri Lanka in a three-match ODI series starting June 29 at Chester-le-Street. The tourists will head into the series on the back of a 3-0 T20I series loss to Eoin Morgan’s men.

Though England will be without Jos Buttler who suffered a calf strain in the first T20I, opener Dawid Malan is back amongst the runs after a scintillating 48-ball 76 in the third T20I.

Promising left-arm fast bowler Sussex fast bowler George Garton has been impressive on the local circuit with his raw pace and has earned his maiden call-up to the ODI squad.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will miss the services of vice-captain Kusal Mendis, opener Danushka Gunathilaka and wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella, all of whom have been sent back home after reportedly breaching the team’s bio-bubble. The trio had ventured out in Durham and that was deemed out of the designated bubble.

All three were first-choice players for the island nation and their absence is likely to be a further setback for them.
