The England cricket team will host Ireland in a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series starting on Wednesday, September 20.

The reigning ODI world champions will head into the Ireland series after registering a comprehensive 3-1 series win over New Zealand in the 50-over format.

Currently ranked fifth in the ICC men’s ODI rankings, England have announced an inexperienced 13-man squad to be led by comeback man Zak Crawley.

The hosts have also added former captain Joe Root for their first ODI against Ireland as he aims to rediscover his 50-over form ahead of the ICC World Cup 2023 in India.

Apart from Root, England have not included any of their provisional 15-man World Cup squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series.

Warwickshire batter Sam Hain, Surrey wicket-keeper Jamie Smith and Derbyshire pacer George Scrimshaw are three uncapped players added in the England ODI squad.

On the other hand, the Ireland cricket team has also announced their 15-member squad for the England ODI series. The visitors will be led by their talisman Paul Stirling.

The likes of Andrew Balbirnie, George Dockrell, Josh Little, Andy McBrine, Harry Tector, and Lorcan Tucker are expected to play key roles for the world's 13th ranked ODI side.

As per the England vs Ireland ODIs 2023 schedule, the first match will be played at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds on September 20. The two teams will later travel to Nottingham to play the second ODI at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground on September 23.

The third and final ODI is scheduled to be held at the County Ground in Bristol on September 26.
