Following a disappointing end to the ODI series between England (ENG) and South Africa (SA) that ended 1-1, the two teams will now take part in three T20I matches, with the first match taking place on Wednesday, July 27. The Bristol County Ground will host the opening game, which will start at 11:00 PM IST.

ENG vs SA Dream11 prediction

England shade the head-to-head record against South Africa in T20 cricket and do well against the Proteas in the bilateral series. Such has been England’s dominance over the Proteas that they have won each of their last three T20I series between 2017 and 2021. Furthermore, taking only the results from the bilateral series into consideration, England have won seven of their last 10 T20Is against South Africa.

Now, history means little in matches like these and one cannot overlook the fact that England were poor in their last T20I assignment against India, which they lost 1-2.

For South Africa, their form in the shortest format has been better and there are high chances that they might come out on top on Wednesday.

ENG vs SA Dream11 team tips for 1st T20I

Top tip: Best batter

Selected by 77.79 per cent of fantasy players, South Africa’s Aiden Markram is the most-picked batter for this contest. It’s important to note that Markram hasn’t played a T20 International since November 2021, but the fact that he is still averaging 39.20 in the format indicates why he’s such a popular pick among fantasy enthusiasts.

Top tip: Best bowler

South Africa are set to welcome Kagiso Rabada back into the team, which also comes as good news for fantasy managers. The 27-year-old pacer is a sheer menace with the ball in the shortest format and given UK’s weather conditions, he will be looking to add to his 51 international wickets in the 20-over format.

Top tip: Best all-rounder and wicket-keeper

Between Liam Livingstone and Dwaine Pretorius, our recommendation would be to pick the latter among all-rounders as he is more economical with the ball and also costs just 8.5 credits. Coming lower down the order, Pretorius has the knack of playing some quickfire knocks, which could help fantasy players garner points. His bowling though will be his primary source of earning points for fantasy players.

For a wicket-keeper, ex-captain Quinton de Kock should be preferred ahead of Jos Buttler, as the latter’s form since becoming England’s new captain, has dwindled a bit. De Kock meanwhile is expected to be at his explosive best at the top of the order for South Africa and is also safe behind the stumps.

ENG vs SA probable playing XI

ENG playing XI (probable): Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler (captain and wicket-keeper), Dawid Malan, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Moeen Ali, David Willey, Chris Jordan, Adil Rashid, Sam Curran, Reece Topley

SA playing XI (probable): Quinton de Kock (wicket-keeper), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram, Rilee Rossouw, David Miller (captain), Henrich Klassen, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi, Keshav Maharaj
