Two days before Indian T20 League 2021 opener, Team Bangalore all-rounder Daniel Sams has tested positive for the global virus in his second test after arriving in India.
The 28-year-old Australian becomes the second player from the Virat Kohli-led franchise to be infected by the dreaded virus. Earlier, Team Bangalore opener Devdutt Padikkal had tested positive for the global virus during his hotel quarantine.
"Daniel Sams checked into the team hotel in Chennai on April 3rd, with a negative COVID report on arrival. His report from the 2nd test on 7th April came positive. Sams is currently asymptomatic and he is currently in isolation at a designated medical facility," the Bangalore franchise said in a statement.
"Bangalore medical team is in constant touch with Daniel Sams and continue to monitor his health and abide by the BCCI protocols," the statement further read.

Sams was traded in from Team Delhi along with Harshal Patel ahead of the Indian T20 League 2021 season.
On Tuesday, Team Mumbai scout and wicketkeeping consultant Kiran More had tested positive for the global virus.
The high-profile league has been dogged by a slew of global virus cases even before its start as Delhi's Axar Patel and Kolkata's Nitish Rana had also tested positive for the global virus after entering the mandatory seven-day hotel quarantine. Furthermore, 10 groundsmen reportedly tested positive for the global virus at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli-led Team Bangalore will take on defending champions Team Mumbai in the opening encounter of the Indian T20 League 2021 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, April 9.
