The CWI Women’s T20 Blaze 2024 is slated to begin on Sunday, March 17 with Leeward Islands facing Barbados in the tournament opener.
Organised by Cricket West Indies (CWI), the Women’s T20 Blaze 2024 will feature six teams. Apart from Leeward Islands and Barbados, the likes of Trinidad & Tobago Red Force Divas, Guyana, Jamaica, and Windward Islands are also participating in the 20-over tournament.
The 2024 season will be the eighth edition of the Women’s T20 Blast in the Caribbean. Last season saw Barbados become three-time champions after they beat Leeward Islands by eight wickets on the final day of the tournament.
As per the format of the competition, each team is scheduled to play the other five sides once in a single round-robin format. The team on top of the standings after all the league matches will clinch the CWI Women’s T20 Blaze 2024 title.
Leeward Islands are the hosts of the tournament this time and all matches will be held at Warner Park with three games set to take place on a given day.
The CWI Women’s T20 Blaze 2024 will also mark the start of a busy period for the West Indies women’s team, who will spend plenty of time on the road touring Pakistan and Sri Lanka over the next few months.
They will hope to make the most of this tournament and such tours as they prepare for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Bangladesh in October prior to their tour of India at the end of the year.
