West Indies opener Chris Gayle has made certain changes to his retirement plans from international cricket by confirming that he will play the home ODI and Test series against India before hanging his boots.

It was only last month that Gayle had said he would retire from ODI cricket after the ongoing World Cup, but speaking to the media ahead of West Indies’ all-important clash against India on June 27 at Old Trafford in Manchester, the 39-year-old power hitter subtly confessed that he is not done yet.

"It's still not the end. I still have a few games to go. Maybe another series to go, as well. Who knows, we will see what happens. My plans after the World Cup? I may play a Test match against India and then I will definitely play the ODIs against India. I won't play the T20s. That's my plan after the World Cup," Gayle said

West Indies’ media manager, Philip Spooner told PTI, "Yes, Chris will play his last series against India."

The self-proclaimed ‘Universal Boss’ has played 103 Tests for West Indies, scoring 7,215 runs at an average of 42.19. Furthermore, in 294 ODIs, he scored 10,345 runs, while in 58 T20 Internationals, he has 1,627 runs.

India will play three T20Is against the West Indies, two of which will be played at Fort Lauderhill in Florida on August 3 and 4. The team will then travel to Guyana for the third T20I. The ODIs, on the other hand, will begin from August 8 to August 14 before the two-match Test series kicks off from August 22.
