West Indies great, Brian Lara turned 51 on Saturday and wishes poured out in numbers from the cricketing fraternity to wish the Prince of Trinidad. The likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Shikhar Dhawan and even the IPL franchises took to social media to deliver their best wishes.

“Wishing my fellow Taurean a very happy birthday. Was great fun catching up with you recently. Have a great one, Prince! Look forward to seeing you soon. Take care,” wrote Tendulkar on Twitter.

Meanwhile, ICC decided to relive Lara’s iconic 111 off 94 balls against South Africa in the 1996 World Cup, which guided West Indies to the semi-finals.

Lara, who announced his retirement from international cricket in 2007, finished his career with 22,358 runs and 53 international tons. Having played 131 Tests and 299 ODIs for West Indies, the southpaw has several individual records to his name.

In 2004, the left-hander scored 400 runs against England in the fourth Test at the Antigua Recreation Stadium, which till date, remains the highest individual score in the longest format of the game. A year before, in 2003, he smashed South Africa’s Robin Peterson for 28 runs in a single over, which is the highest number of runs in the Test cricket in an over.

Early in his career, in 1994, he scored 501 not-out while playing first-class cricket for Warwickshire against Durham at Edgbaston.
