The BCCI Central Contracts 2024 players list was announced on Wednesday, February 29.
Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja have retained their places in the top tier (Grade A+) of the BCCI's annual central contracts.
The likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya have been included in the Grade A category, the second tier of the BCCI’s central contracts.
While Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin have been retained in the A category, KL Rahul, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj have been promoted to the category from Grade B.
Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yashasvi Jaiswal find themselves in the Grade B category.
Interestingly, Suryakumar Yadav is the only player to be retained in the Grade B category from the previous season.
Kuldeep Yadav has been elevated from Grade C to B while Yashasvi Jaiswal is the latest entrant in this category.
Rishabh, who missed the majority of the season due to a road accident, has been included in this category.
All-rounder Axar Patel has moved down from Grade A to B.
As many as 15 players have been included in the Grade C category, an increase from the previous season's 11.
Rinku Singh, Tilak Verma, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Jitesh Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan and Rajat Patidar are the 10 new names added to this category.
Shardul Thakur, Washington Sundar, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh, and KS Bharat have been retained in Grade C.
On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan, Yuzvendra Chahal, Umesh Yadav, and Deepak Hooda have been excluded.
Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan have been axed from BCCI central contracts 2024 players list.
“Please note that Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were not considered for the annual contracts in this round of recommendations,” the BCCI stated in a press release.
The BCCI central contracts 2023-24 will apply from October 1, 2023 to September 30, 2024.
The BCCI added that all cricketers who feature in a minimum of three Tests or eight ODIs or ten T20Is within the specified period will automatically be included in Grade C on a pro-rata basis.
“Athletes who meet the criteria of playing a minimum of three Tests or eight ODIs or 10 T20Is within the specified period will automatically be included in Grade C on a pro-rata basis.
“For instance, Dhruv Jurel and Sarfaraz Khan, having played 2 Test matches so far, will be inducted into Grade C if they participate in the Dharamsala Test Match, i.e., the 5th Test of the ongoing series against England,” the BCCI added. BCCI central contracts 2024 salary
The A+ category players bag an annual salary of INR 7 crore while players in the A and B category get INR 5 crore and INR 3 crore per annum, respectively.
Meanwhile, the players under the C category receive an annual contract of INR 1 crore each.
