The Bangladesh women's national cricket team will host Australia in a three-match One Day International (ODI) series starting on Thursday, March 21.
The upcoming three-match ODI series is a part of the ICC Women's Championship 2022-25. Interestingly, this is Australia women’s maiden tour to Bangladesh.
With 10 wins in 15 matches, Australia Women are currently placed on top of the ICC Women's Championship 2022-25 standings with 22 points.
Bangladesh Women, on the other hand, have registered four wins, suffered six defeats while one game was tied. They are placed seventh in the standings with 13 points.
Ahead of the historic series, Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad to be led by captain Nigar Sultana while Nahida Akter will be the team’s deputy.
Uncapped wicketkeeper Farzana Akter has been included in Bangladesh's squad. The 15-year-old Nishita Akter Nishi, who featured in two ODIs against Pakistan last year, has also secured a place in the squad.
The Australia women's national cricket team has also named a star-studded squad to be led by star wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy.
The visitors will miss the services of Darcie Brown due to a navicular stress injury to her left foot. Darcie Brown has been replaced by hard-hitting batter Grace Harris.
The likes of Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham are also part of the Australian squad.
All matches in the upcoming three-match ODI series will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. Matches are scheduled to be played on March 21, 24 and 27.
