The Bangladesh cricket team will host Afghanistan in a one-off Test at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh, starting from Wednesday, June 14. The match will start at 9:00 AM Indian Standard Time (IST).

Ahead of the Test match, the hosts have suffered a massive blow as captain Shakib Hasan has been ruled out due to injury. In the absence of Shakib, vice-captain Litton Das will lead Bangladesh in the much-anticipated Test.

Bangladesh have announced their 15-member squad which includes two uncapped players. Chattogram Division batter Shahadat Hossain and Rangpur Division pacer  Musfik Hasan have been added to the squad.

Having made his first-class debut in 2021, the 21-year-old Shahadat has amassed 1265 runs in 20 matches, including two hundreds and 10 fifties.

Meanwhile, 20-year-old fast bowler Musfik, who made his first-class debut in the 2022 season, has already picked up 49 wickets in 13 matches, with three five-wicket hauls to his name.

On the other hand, Afghanistan will be led by batter Hashmatullah Shahidi. The visitors will be without their star leg-spinner Rashid Khan.

The likes of former captain Mohammad Nabi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Naveen-ul-Haq are also not part of the squad.

While Bangladesh will start as overwhelming favourites, Afghanistan are expected to give a tough fight to the hosts.

Since March 2021, Afghanistan have registered three wins and as many losses in cricket’s longest format.
