The Australia vs West Indies ODIs 2024 will start on February 2 and run till February 6 in Australia.
After a dramatic Test series, Australia are all set to host West Indies for a three-match ODI series at home. Currently, the hosts are ranked second in the ICC Men’s ODI rankings, while the Men from the Caribbean are placed 10th in the rankings.
As far as the head-to-head battle is concerned, the hosts have an edge over the Maroons in the 50-over format, winning 76 games out of 143. Meanwhile, West Indies have also registered 61 wins. So far, three matches each have ended in no result and ties.
The Aussies have named a new-look squad for the three upcoming ODIs. They have named several players who weren't part of the team that won the 2023 ICC Men's Cricket World Cup in India.
The hosts are looking to build the next group of ODI players since they have rested the likes of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazelwood, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Marsh, and Marcus Stoinis.
Meanwhile, Steve Smith has been named the captain of the team with Lance Morris, Will Sutherland, Xavier Bartlett, and Aaron Hardie among the fresh faces in the side.
On the other hand, West Indies will be entering the ODI series with a much-happier camp after rewriting history at the Gabba. Riding on Shamar Joseph’s 7 for 68, the Windies won their first Test match since 2003 against Australia.
West Indies last won an ODI series against Australia in 1995. Led by Shai Hope, West Indies will have the luxury of Alzarri Joseph, Oshane Thomas, Roston Chase, and Romario Shepherd in the three-match ODI series.
As per the Australia vs West Indies ODIs 2024 schedule, the opening fixture of the series will be played at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on February 2. The second and third ODIs are also scheduled in Sydney and Canberra respectively.
