American University of Malta (AUM) will take on Royal Strikers (RST) in the opening fixture of the ECS T10 Malta 2021 at the Marsa Sports Complex on Monday, June 14. The two teams will kick off the proceedings that will last over 48 matches, spanning 12 days.
AUM finished their 2020 season with a lone win in 10 matches but came close to victory on a few occasions and eventually fell short. They would be eager to use their experience to make this campaign a more fruitful one.
RST are making their debut in the tournament and have been included in Group A. They are inexperienced and will have their task cut out as they take on other teams during the course of the tournament.

Top tip: Best batsmen
Abhishek Prajapati is a promising name in the AUM line-up. He scored 68 runs in six matches at a strike rate of 121.42 in 2020 and it is his attacking style that may result in more wins for them this year. He can prove to be a smart pick in fantasy teams.
Sebin Thomas is an exciting prospect for RST. He would be eager to make a mark on this tournament on his team’s debut. Since he bats in the top four and would be entrusted with the responsibility to deliver the goods.
Top tip: Best bowlers
Shubham Patel was the pick of the bowlers for AUM last season and is definitely the one to look out for this time. He scalped eight wickets in seven matches which also included a three-wicket haul. A best of 3/15 makes him a hot pick in fantasy teams.
Opening bowler Rubin James can play an important role in RST's fortunes. The fantasy team owners might prefer to bank on him for consistent breakthroughs.
Top tip: All-rounder and wicket-keeper
AUM’s Zoheb Malek is the best option available in the all-round category. He ended the last season with 201 runs in nine matches at a healthy average of 40.20. On top of that, he also has four wickets to his name with a very good economy rate of 7.86, making him a good fantasy deal.
Sanish Mani, the RST wicket-keeper may prove to be an interesting pick in this category. Though the team is making their ECS debut, they have played some entertaining cricket in T10 tournaments and this might just be the opportunity he has been waiting for.
