The Asian Games 2023 Men’s T20I cricket tournament will start on September 27 and conclude on October 7 in Hangzhou, China.
As many as 14 men’s cricket teams will compete in a total of 17 T20 internationals for the coveted gold medal at Asian Games 2023.
Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand are the 14 teams that will feature in the Asian Games 2023 Men’s cricket tournament.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan secured direct entry into the quarter-finals courtesy their ICC T20I men’s rankings. The other nine teams will compete for the remaining three quarter-final spots.
These remaining nine teams have been divided into three groups of three teams each. Group A includes Mongolia, Maldives and Nepal.
Cambodia, Hong Kong and Japan are placed in Group B, while Group C comprises Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Young Ruturaj Gaikwad will lead the Indian cricket team at Asiad 2023.
Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh, Rahul Tripathi, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh and Prabhsimran Singh are some of the notable inclusions in India's 15-member men’s squad.
All Asian Games 2023 Men’s T20I matches will be played at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou.
Cricket has been staged at Asian Games twice before at Guangzhou 2010 and Incheon 2014.
Bangladesh won the men’s event in 2010 while Sri Lanka clinched the gold in 2014.
