Bhuvneshwar Kumar was Arjun Tendulkar’s first wicket in Indian T20 League 2023.
While representing Team Mumbai against Team Hyderabad in the 2023 edition of Indian T20 League, Arjun Tendulkar claimed his first-ever scalp.
Playing in just the second Indian T20 League match of his career, the 23-year-old left-arm seamer showed spectators what he’s made of by demonstrating his resolve and composure in a tense situation.
Asked to bowl the 20th over for Team Mumbai as they looked to defend a target of 193, Team Hyderabad required 20 off the final over of this encounter.
Unperturbed by the tense on-ground situation with the match still in the balance, it was calm Tendulkar against Team Hyderabad’s Abdul Samad, who was the last recognised batter waiting at the crease.
Arjun Tendulkar began the over with an overpitched delivery wide of off that was a dot ball thanks in part to some good work by Ishan Kishan behind the stumps for Team Mumbai.
For the second ball of the over, Samad managed to make contact with the ball and run it down to third man. However, while completing his single, the Hyderabad batter was run out.
Sticking to his plan of going wide of off, Arjun Tendulkar continued to stick to his line and length even though his third delivery of the over was adjudged to be wide.
The wide prompted him to change his line and length as he bowled a perfect yorker next which Mayank Markande managed to squeeze out for a couple of runs.
Arjun Tendulkar then nailed another yorker in the subsequent ball to put a smile on the faces of his coach as well as his father, the God of Cricket, Sachin Tendulkar.
The penultimate ball of his over was a tad bit fuller to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who couldn’t prevent himself from smashing the delivery straight to Team Mumbai skipper Rohit Sharma for an easy catch.
As a result, Bhuvneshwar Kumar will now go down in the history books as Arjun Tendulkar’s first-ever victim in the Indian T20 League.
The left-arm seamer seems to be enjoying a breakthrough campaign with Team Mumbai in Indian T20 League 2023.
After dismissing Bhuvneshwar, Arjun Tendulkar has grown in confidence and also accounted for scalps such as Prabhsimran Singh and Wriddhiman Saha besides also smashing his first-ever six in the tournament at the expense of Team Gujarat’s Mohit Sharma.
