MS Dhoni’s highest score is a knock of 224 runs off 265 balls against Australia, that came in a 2013 Test at Chennai.
The legendary Indian captain, who is among the greatest skippers in cricket history, registered the highest Test score by an Indian wicketkeeper to help the team end with a first innings score of 572.
India, who batted second, lost their opening pair of Murali Vijay and Virender Sehwag within the 5.2 overs and would lose two more wickets by the opening ball of the 64th over until Dhoni’s arrival.
Dhoni - nicknamed Captain Cool - raced up to 200 from 231 deliveries, with Australian spinner Nathan Lyon his guinea pig in the fixture. In all, his innings is said to have spanned just six hours.
Over the course of his 265-ball 224, MS Dhoni hit Lyon for 104 runs from 85 deliveries and registered 100-plus partnerships with Virat Kohli (128) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (140) to set the tone for the Indian cricket team’s fourth consecutive home Test win over Australia at the time.
Dhoni scored his only double century against Australia in Chennai in 2013.

Dhoni’s 2013 knock bettered his previous best in Test cricket. He slammed a 153-ball 148 against Pakistan in the 2006 Faisalabad Test, and the innings was his maiden century in red-ball cricket.
In ODIs, MS Dhoni’s highest score came against Sri Lanka in 2005 at Jaipur. The middle-order batter smashed an unbeaten 183 off 145 balls that was laced with 15 boundaries and 10 sixes.
With India chasing 299, MS Dhoni rescued the Men in Blue from 99/2 in 14.5 overs with his blistering knock and set in motion India’s eventual six-wicket victory.
MS Dhoni’s unbeaten 183 rewrote his previous highest score in ODI cricket, his debut century (148 off 123 balls) in the 50-overs format that came against Pakistan in Vizag in 2005.
