Most runs in SA20 2023 - know the top batters

The inaugural edition of SA20 got off to a fantastic start, with MI Cape Town defeating Paarl Royals by eight wickets in the opening match. Young sensation Dewald Brevis lit up the stage with a terrific 70 off 41 balls, which puts him in the list of most runs in SA20 2023.

Durban’s Super Giants skipper Quinton de Kock is also one of the contenders to finish as the top run-scorer. The southpaw was the leading run-scorer in the Indian T20 League last season for Durban’s sister franchise Lucknow and is continuing his golden touch with the bat in his homeland as well. 

The SA20 2023 is bringing some exciting young talents to the limelight, including the likes of Donavon Ferreira and Will Jacks. 

Jacks is plying his trade with Pretoria Capitals currently and after missing out in the opening match, he smashed a match-winning 92 off 46 against Sunrisers Eastern Cape, driving his side to a second win on the trot. 

Donovon Ferreira too got off to a solid start in the tournament, helping Joburg Super Kings score 190/6 on the board in their opening game against Durban after a disastrous start to the innings. He smashed 82 in 40 deliveries, which included eight fours and five sixes. 

Among overseas batters, Caribbean batter Kyle Mayers has shown some explosive signs in the tournament. He registered 30+ scores in the opening three matches for Durban, also picking up a Player of the Match award for his all-round exploits against MI Cape Town. 

English batter Jos Buttler, who is representing Paarl Royals this season, is another top contender to take this prize. He finished as the leading run-scorer in the Indian T20 League for Rajasthan with 863 runs in 17 matches and was the highest run-scorer for England (225 runs in six matches) when they won the ICC T20 World Cup 2022. 

Durban's Super Giants wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen has also showcased his talents in the inaugural edition. After a steady start, T20 World Cup winner Jos Buttler and former South African skipper Faf du Plessis have also charted their way up the top run-scorers ladder.
