Melbourne Stars dominated the 2020 edition of the Women's Big Bash League throughout their way to the final. They finished at the top of the table in the league stage, beat Perth Scorchers in the semi-final and now they will be looking for a perfect finish as they aim for their maiden WBBL title in their maiden Grand Finale appearance. In fact, this was also the first time in the history of the tournament that they made it to the top four. Clearly, this has been a season of many firsts for the Stars and here, we shall take a look at some of the players who played an important role in their success.

Natalie Sciver

The 28-year-old has not only turned out to be a reliable middle-order batter but picked up wickets regularly with her bowling as well. Sciver is the Stars' highest wicket-taker this season with 19 wickets to her name at an average of 15.00. With the bat, she has amassed 241 runs at an excellent average of 40.16 once again. She starred in the semi-final against Perth Scorchers once again as she not only bowled an economical spell of 4-0-27-1 but came back to score an unbeaten 47 to take them over the line as well.

Meg Lanning

The skipper led right from the front as she kept getting them off to steady starts right from the top of the order. Lanning is their highest scorer in this season thus far with a total of 480 runs to her name at an average of 43.63. These runs include six scores of fifty or more in just 13 innings and that sums up how consistent she has been. Lanning has performed in all important matches of this season and she will be eager to get a big score in the all-important final once again.

Alana King

She has been the X-factor of their bowling unit. King has bamboozled almost every batter with her art of leg-spin this season and that has helped her in claiming 15 wickets so far, at an outstanding average and economy rate of 15.06 and 5.79 respectively. She was even adjudged the Player of the Match in the semi-final for her brilliant spell of 4-0-16-3, which included the key wickets of Sophie Devine, Beth Mooney and Amy Ellen Jones.
