The Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament 2023 will start on Saturday, June 9 in the East African nation of Rwanda.
Since the inception of the Kwibuka Women’s Tournament in 2014, it has been organised to honour the victims of the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi.
Hosts Rwanda, Botswana, Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda are the five nations that will take part in the upcoming Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament.
As per the schedule, each nation will play the other team twice in a double round-robin format. The top-two placed teams after the league phase will qualify for the final. The Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament 2023 final is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 17.
Meanwhile, teams finishing third and fourth in the standings will lock horns for the third-placed playoff.
The Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament 2023 matches will be played at IPRC Cricket Ground and Gahanga International Cricket Stadium in Kigali, Rwanda.
Tanzania Women are the defending champions of the Kwibuka Women’s T20I Tournament, having defeated Kenya by 44 runs in the final last year. However, the reigning champions will not take part in the 2023 edition.
Kenya Women are the most decorated team in the memorial T20I tournament, having won the competition on four occasions.
