Defending champions Team Mumbai take on Virat Kohli-led Team Bangalore in the opening encounter of the Indian T20 League 2021 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday, April 9.

Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai will look to clinch an unprecedented three Indian T20 League titles in a row while Bangalore will aim to win their maiden title this year.

Mumbai captain Rohit Sharma has a good record against Bangalore, amassing 697 runs in 27 matches, with seven fifties to his name. The 33-year-old is tipped to score another fifty against Virat Kohli’s team in the first match of the Indian T20 League 2021.

On the other hand, Bangalore will depend on their talisman AB de Villers, who has a stellar record against Mumbai, accumulating 726 runs in 23 matches at an average of 45.31 and at a strike rate of 147.07.

In the bowling department, Jasprit Bumrah is expected to be the wrecker-in-chief for Mumbai in the opening encounter, having claimed 19 wickets in 15 innings against Bangalore at an average of 23.05. 

For Bangalore, Yuzvendra Chahal will play a massive role against Mumbai, having bagged 19 wickets in 13 innings at an average of 21.78.
