India will lock horns with South Africa in a Group 2 clash of the T20 World Cup 2022 on October 30 at the Perth Cricket Ground, Australia. The Super 12 match is scheduled to commence at 4:30 PM IST.

Team India is the only side in the competition who are yet to drop points due to a loss or a rain-enforced no result so far. They have won two in as many games played.

The first match saw a nail-biting thriller where India defeated Pakistan by four wickets. Pacer Arshdeep Singh and all-rounder Hardik Pandya took three wickets each as Pakistan posted a competitive 159-8 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground

Thereafter, Virat Kohli’s 53-ball 82 and Hardik Pandya’s 40 off 37 balls powered India to a memorable last-ball win.

The second match against Netherlands was a one-sided contest that the Rohit Sharma-led side won by 56 runs.

The trio of skipper Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav each scored fifties to post a target of 180 runs before the bowlers sealed an easy win with a disciplined bowling performance.

Talking about South Africa, the Proteas defeated Bangladesh by a whopping 104 runs to get their campaign up and running after their opening game against Zimbabwe, unfortunately, ended in no result.

The first game was a rain-enforced nine-over-a-side clash. Zimbabwe posted 79/5 in their quota of nine overs. Coming in to bat, South Africa were cruising towards victory at 51/0 in three overs before rain played spoilsport.

Their second game, however, was a straightforward one with Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw combining for a 168-run partnership to record the highest partnership in T20 World Cup history. The stand helped the Proteas post a massive total of 205 runs.

Anrich Nortje and Tabraiz Shamsi then scalped seven wickets between themselves to ensure the Bangladesh batting line-up stopped 104 runs short.

India vs South Africa head-to-head

Overall, the two sides have faced each other on 25 occasions in the shortest format of the game. While Team India have won on 13 instances, the Proteas have emerged victorious nine times. Two games were abandoned and one ended in a no result.

India and South Africa met in two separate bilateral series earlier this year. When the two teams met in June, the trophy was shared after the series ended 2-2. However, the Rahul Dravid-coached side won the next series in September by 2-1.

As far as the T20 World Cup is concerned, India boast a dominant record of 4-1 in the five matches played, which includes a group stage win in the inaugural edition of the World T20.
