Indian cricket team has their own “Theatre of Dreams” now.

The Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad, formerly known as the Sardar Patel Stadium, was properly unveiled on Wednesday, February 28, before the India-England third Test match started.

Despite the series and a place in the World Test Championship at stake, the build-up to the third Test was dominated by the magnanimity of the Motera Stadium.

With a capacity of 110,000, upgraded from its previous capacity of 53,000, the stadium has now surpassed Melbourne Cricket Ground, Eden Gardens, and Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Cricket Stadium to become the world’s largest cricket stadium.

Apart from the mammoth seating capacity, the Motera Stadium - built on the banks of the Sabarmati river on 100 acres of land – is one of the most attractive stadiums. Spreading over 63 acres, the field size is estimated at 180 yards x 150 yards. There are 11 clay pitches at the venue.

The build-up to the toss was filled with wide shots and top shots of the new stadium, and cricket viewers could not get enough of it. Here’s how Twitter showered praises:
