Since India and England played against each other for the first time in June 1932, the two teams have produced some memorable games over the years.

The Natwest Series Final in 2002, India’s Test win at Lord’s in 2021, England’s dominance at Wankhede in a series-defining Test at Wankhede in 2012 are a few matches that stand out in the clash between the two cricketing giants.

The Indian cricket team, which made its Test debut against England, secured their maiden Test victory after 20 years. The win came against the English in February 1952 by an innings and eight runs.

England won the first ODI in this head-to-head in July 1974, while India’s first ODI success against the English cricket team was only at the fifth time of asking.

Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad were the highlight of the first India vs England T20 International in September 2007. The MS Dhoni-led side sealed a victory by 18 runs in that game. Meanwhile, England won the latest encounter between the two nations in this format in July this year.

Overall, in the 259 matches between the two teams across all three formats, Team India has won 100, while England have a slight edge with 104 victories.
